Update on Mavis Hadder.  She is getting weaker and closer to the end.  She is still thinking and knows what is going on but doesn’t seem to care about what is going on around her.

Benevolence/Joyful Noise

This week is Benevolence Sunday.

 

Volunteers Needed

We are in need of volunteers in some areas of the church.  We need people to sign up to be Sunday morning greeters, coffee hour hosts/hostesses, and VBS workers.  Please consider volunteering.  Many hands make light work!

 

Pray and Go

Pray and Go bible study will start back up on Monday nights at 6:30 PM beginning July 14th.

 

The Hoppers in Concert at New Hope Church

The Hoppers will be in concert on Sunday, July 27 at 4 pm.  Doors will open at 3 pm.   The Hoppers unique blend of harmonies and song choices have created a legacy of musical excellence embraced by leading pastors and event organizers. Known as America’s Favorite Family of Gospel Music, they are favorites on the Gaither Homecoming videos and tours, and their recordings frequently land at the top of the BILLBOARD sales charts and The Singing News radio charts.   Mike Hopper,the youngest son, has come off the road to care for his parents, Connie and Claude Hopper.  As a result, with Claude and Connie’s blessings, Dean and Kim Hopper, along with their daughter Karlye, have moved forward as the latest configuration of The Hoppers.  They are continuing the family’s long legacy as one of the prominent families of Gospel Music.  Tickets will be on sale at the Welcome Center on Sundays before and after the service. Tickets are $20 in advance and $24 the day of the concert.  For questions, call Greg/Laura at231-972-7000.

 

 

Memorial Service for Gary Berg

Services for Gary Berg will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at New Hope Church.  Visitation will be at 10 AM and the service will begin at 11 AM. There will be a luncheon to follow.

                    MINISTRY  TEAM HAPPENINGS

                            – July-August  2025

 

v  Consider being part of a Ministry Team (Discipleship/Christian Ed, Missions and Outreach, Evangelism,Worship Design, Prayer, Congregational Care, Small Groups).

 

Ministry Teams Updates:

 

1.   Discipleship/Christian Education (Director – Sally McKenney):

 

>  VBS: July 15-17 6-8pm); Western theme; Volunteers still needed; Decorating100am July 14th, Schedule TBP, Contact Sally to help.

 

>  Sunday School & Bible Studies:  New times and new Sunday/Bible School Classes being considered for the Fall (Bible Study/Sunday School @ 9am, Coffee Break, Worship Service @10:30am… Share your thoughts with Church Council members.

 

2.  Missions and Community Outreach (Director - Wally Ewing):

 

>  Royal View Ministry/Worship Service: Next event is July 20th @ 6pm;late Vesper Service.  Volunteer help always welcomed….

 

>  Community Cookout & Campfire Program: Next event is July 23rd @5:30.  Bring a friend or neighbor, and welcome our visitors. Special campfire program, outdoor grilling, meal is indoors, fun time of Christian fellowship and music.

 

>  God’s Helping Hands:  New Hope continues to support this important program, which provides emergency food to members of our community.  Please support GHH in whatever way you can. Contact person: Karrie R.

 

> Mission Trips:  Join others on New Hope’s Local Mission & Retreat Trip   (Sep 4-6). An Info and registration packet is available at the Welcome Desk.  Highlights: meals and lodging at Cran Hill Ranch, $60 per person, mission work at the Comfort Home in Reed City and village of Mecosta; retreat activities based on outdoor setting and lessons from the ‘Pray & Go’ book.

 

>  The Comfort Home (hospice facility in Reed City):  The Mission Team continues to support the Comfort Home, donated $2000 towards their critical financial needs, and will be doing Mission Work on Sep 5th.

 

>  Church Camp Scholarship: A scholarship of $260 was awarded to Gavin Todd, Dawn’s son; going to Cran Hill Ranch Camp.

 

 Texas Flooding: The Missions Team donated $200 to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund, and are researching other ways to help.  Our prayers go out to the parents and community effected by the catastrophic flood.

 

Evangelism(Director TBD / Pastor Wayne):

 

> “Pray & Go” Study Group:  This group is working to include all members of New Hope in becoming Great Commission Christians and a Great Commission Church.  See the Pastor if you would like to receive a book and be moved by this Spirit filled opportunity for Evangelism.  A new session will be offered in the fall.

 

> “Little Jesus Ministry’:  This simple but impactful“handout” is an ongoing way of evangelism at New Hope.  Get your Little Jesus handout/bag and share the Good News with everyone you interact with; an easy and humorous way to start a conversation about Jesus.

 

> “Summer Concerts”:  Next up is: “The Hoppers” – July27 @ 4pm.

 

 

3.  Congregational Care (Director - TBD):

 

>  Director Position: Although many volunteers are assisting with caring for our own, we still need someone to become the Director and coordinate this important Ministry for New Hope (family) members.   We have a possible individual.

 

>  Assistance Needed?: Contact the church office if you have a need and we’ll  find a person to help…

 

> Care Team Opportunities:  Contact Pastor Wayne or Wally Ewing if you would like to help with an area of care that Congregational Care provides. A list of opportunities is available.

 

4.  Worship Design (Director - Pastor Wayne):

 

>  Special Music: July 13th: NH Jazz Ensemble.  Contact Tim if you are lead to share your musical talent in worship.

 

>  Outdoor Services: July 20th and Aug 17th;to be held in the Garden area.

 

>  Baptisms at the Lake: We will be meeting at the Canadian Lakes pavilion to the west of the C-L main office Sunday, Aug 10th @5pm.  This special event will include:Pot Luck meal, Music, Baptisms on Sunset Beach. Let Pastor Wayne know if you are lead to be Baptized for the first time or wish to renew your Baptism.  Please come and support those individuals who will begin a new life in Christ.

 

> Contemporary Music:  More contemporary songs will be included at the start of worship services.

 

5.  Prayer Team (Director – Sue Reed):

 

> Prayer Wall:  A Prayer Wall is being created and will be located in the sanctuary; it will reflect prayers lifted up (via prayer cards) and also have cards with “answered prayers”. 

 

> Prayer Group: Anyone interested in joining a Prayer Group should contact Sue.  The group will be praying for the life of our church a few times each month.

 

6.  Small Groups (Director: Rachel Ewing)

 

> New Director:  Rachel Ewing will now be serving as the Small Groups Director.  She will be touching base with all small groups on a regular basis, maintaining a calendar of all activities, and keeping the Ministry Team and Church Council informed.

 

> Definition of Small Group:  A group of church members who meet regularly based on a common interest that allows individuals to deepen their Christian faith and put that faith into action.                                                                                       

 

> Info:  Seethe new Small Groups bulletin board, with useful info… and note announcements in the bulletin.

 

> Event Highlights: Faith Circle: July 17th– Picnic; Mary Martha: Starting Shoebox Ministry (focus: small stuffed animals); WSCS: Aug 9th – Ecumenical Womens’ Luncheon; Cherubs of Comfort: Just finished and delivered blankets to The Brook Asst Living; GMC Men: Working on church maintenance projects. 

 

> Involvement: Join a small group and experience putting faith into action, and mission related activities.

 

v  Your help is sorely needed for our church ministries to be effective.   Use your Spiritual Gifts and be an active part of New Hope’s Mission to “Love God, Love Others, and Serve”.
